Implementation of channel coding in Wimaz using MATLAB
(University of Management and Technology, 6/1/2013) Sidra Tariq; Fatima Tariq
The digital communication industry is an enormous and rapidly growing industry, roughly comparable in size to the computer industry. The objective of this project is to study those aspects of digital communication systems that are unique to these systems.Digital communication is a field in which theoretical ideas have had an unusually powerful impact on actual system design. In the last few years, the telecommunication industries’ development has focused on an intensive use of broadband systems, which are characterized by high quality features. For this issue, new technologies with high transmission abilities have been designed. The broadband wireless access has become the best way to meet escalating business demand for rapid internet connection and integrated "triple play" services. In addition to not only topographic but also technological limitations, wireless solution alternatives have been found. That is the very base of the WiMAX concept: a wireless transmission infrastructure that allows a fast deployment as well as low maintenance costs. Based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard, WiMAX allows for an efficient use of bandwidth in a wide frequency range, and can be used as a last mile solution for broadband internet access. In any channel or a communication system there may be errors because of noise fading etc. In order to detect or correct these hazards we do channel coding. So in this project we try to minimize the errors by implementing different channel coding schemes in MATLAB Simulink and compare them in terms of BER (Bit Error Rate). We also check their effects by adding different encoders and decoders in modulation schemes. By implementing channel coding in different modulation schemes(BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM) we analyze that Bit Error Rate(BER) is decreasing by increasing signal to noise ratio (SNR) or (Eb/No).

Prevalence of hbv and hcv infection in patients of esrd being on maintenance dialysis in lahore, pakistan
    (UMT, Lhr, 2018) Sidra Tariq
Hepatitis (HVB+HCV) are one of the leading infections that cause morbidity and mortality among the various hemodialysis patients. Hemodialysis patients are more frequently exposed to those viruses due to the fact hemodialysis (HD) patients than within the preferred population have a better vulnerability to blood product transfusions, infected dialysis equipment’s, and contamination from other environmental resources. Low duration of immunity related to number of factors like initiation of dialysis, older age, malnutrition, and a low antibody response and many others. Current study was projected to find out the pervasiveness of HBV and HCV infections in patients of ESRD being on maintenance dialysis at Mayo hospital, Lahore. 300 hemodialysis patients were selected randomly and were requested to fill a questionnaire asking about the risk factors for acquisition of viral hepatitis. Blood samples were subjected to biochemical tests and HBsAg and Anti-HCV antibodies were detected by third generation enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We found 6% patients were HBV positive and Anti-HCV antibodies were identified in 56% patients. The ages of the participants ranged from 12 years to 85 years (mean 44±16). Patients who were laid between the 1-30 ages group having high predominant rate of HBV and HCV disease prevalent in the age of 31-50 years. Patients were dialyzed more than six years had high % of Hepatitis infections. We found blood transfusion as one of the risk factor for acquiring hepatitis infections in ESRD patients.
