The manifestation may be royal and imposing like those of the mighty empires, or may be simple and yet powerful to create an identity for those who adhere to it. It's similar to an artist who paints his canvas and there by builds a sanctuary in the hearts of people and lives forever through his work. Elaborating the expression of culture on the built form is usually the unconscious effort of every designer. In fact, culture plays a dominant role at the very out set of any design process. This is because, any design when conceptualized to perform a desired function, is directly or indirectly derived from or synchronized with the cultural identity of the user. It is what frames our thought processes. Lahore is the foremost city which has been severely affected due to this phenomenon. The climate change and weathering has also effected the built heritage. The research focuses on the weathering effects on the exposed surfaces of heritage due to climate change on Colonial era buildings. Dayal Singh Mansion, a distinguished structure of Colonial period is taken as a case study to identify the weathering effect on building facades. The research further describes the surface morphology of the exposed material of the colonial heritage and identifies the damages which have been made to it. The latent risk factors which are destroying Colonial heritage and how it can be minimalized using the guidelines provided by UNESCO using tools and techniques so it can be conserved for future.
