Numerical modeling of SIR epidemic model of dengue fever with and without awareness in host population with delay
(UMT Lahore, 2021-07-30) Shahid Hussain Shahidi
This research work is concerned with the numerical study of susceptible infected recovered (SIR) epidemic model of dengue fever with time delayed factor. The model is explored by using three different types of numerical techniques: forward Euler, fourth order Runge-Kutta (RK-4), and the proposed non-standard finite difference (NSFD) method. The proposed NSFD scheme becomes more effective and reputable numerical scheme as compared to other two methods, forward Euler and RK-4 scheme. Non-standard finite difference scheme acquired all necessary characteristics of continuous SIR dengue epidemic model as constancy of equilibrium, while these characteristics are not sustainable by recognized forward Euler and RK-4 scheme. Moreover, the projected scheme is independent of time step size, while forward Euler and RK-4 depend on the time step size. The numerical simulations with the aid of numerical tests are presented for the validations of all the characteristics.
