(UMT, Lahore, 2025) Sheerien Sakina Maryam; Sehrish Baig; Rameesha Khan
The current study aims to find the relationship between the Perceived Generational Gap, Interpersonal Difficulties, and Deviant Behaviour among Young Adults. The correlational and cross-sectional design was used in this study. Purposive sampling technique was used for current study with sample size of 400 participants. The data was collected frommales and females, aged 18 to 26years from government and private universities of Lahore. Indigenous and reliable scales includingPerceived Generational Gap scale (Sarwar& Javed, 2023), Interpersonal difficulties Scale (Saleem & Mahmood, 2014), and Deviant Behaviour Scale(Mushtaq &Kausar 2018) were used for data collection. The correlational analysis results showed that perceived generational gap had a significant positive correlation with interpersonal difficulties and with deviant behaviour, but the factor of communication breakdown was significantly negatively correlated with deviant behaviour. Furthermore, interpersonal difficulties were significantly positively correlated with deviant behaviour. Linear regression analysis revealed that dominance positively predicted deviant behaviors and communication breakdown was a significant negative predictor of deviant behavior among young adults. Results of t-test revealed thatfemales tend to perceive more generational gap than males. In interpersonal difficulties, females experienced lower self-confidence and lack of assertiveness than males.
