    Perceived parenting style, social competence and pro-social behavior in young adults

    The purpose of our study was to investigate the relationship of parenting style, social competence and prosocial behavior among adolescents. A sample consisted on (N=159) adolescents, (n=73 male, n=86 female) combined were taken from state and private universities for this study. Participants were selected through a random sampling technique. Participants were asked to complete three questionnaires Parental Perception Questionnaire (PPQ), Perceived Social Competence Scale (PSCS) and Prosocial Tendencies Measures (PTM). Three steps of analysis were taken i.e. The first is the descriptive analysis that provides access to the internal reliability of our scales. Is used. The second is a correlation analysis used to examine the relationship between demographic variable parental style, social competence and prosocial. Third, the mediation was analyzed to assess the role of parent-style mediation in social competence and prosocial behavior. The correlation showed, Social Competence was also found to be significantly and positively correlated with prosocial behavior among adolescence. There is a mediation role of parenting style on social competence and prosocial behavior.
