    Ottoman jewellery
(University of Management and Technolog, 2017) Sabahat Aneeqa
Ottoman jewelry had to be ornate and extremely colorful they use different metals to fashion a piece of jewelry which is the main difference from European jewelry, another feature is that instead of strict symmetry, the nature of stone and metal has given prominence Emerald and ruby reflect the ottoman feature of jewelry. It was designed using natural motifs which reflect prevailing tastes. Natural motifs are obtained from flowers like tulip, rose, violet, flower buckets, birds, bees and butterflies. Main elements of ottoman jewelry include; aigrettes, pins, brooches, earrings, bangles, waist belts, signet rings, chokers and necklaces. Floral geometric patterns of ottoman jewelry were used, tried to give a delicate and royal look. Inspiration has been taken by Turkish serial “Mera Sultan” which includes Islamic history of Ottoman Empire and the beautiful pieces of jewelry used by both sultans and notable women in harem. Colors of stones and metals have been used to give it a rich look. Aimed to work in different perspectives and produce something unique instead of going towards typical jewelry patterns. Fabric samples include velvet, chiffon, net and jamawar etc. cutwork, embellishments, digital printing, screen printing, block printing and sampling has been done in different mediums. Cape shawls, gowns, frocks, caftans and skirts are their main dress styles of Ottoman Empire. Expected outcome would be the fusion of ancient and contemporary workand will surely give a new vision of fusion collection. And dresses include kaftan, jackets and shirts etc
