Item Financial stress, social support and mental health in university students(UMT.Lahore, 2023) SAJID ALI WAQAS AHMAD; WAQAS AHMADThe aim of the study was to find the relationship between financial stress, social support and mental health in university students. It was hypothesized that there will be relationship between financial stress, social support and mental health. The data was collected from 150 students (Male= 71; Female= 79) with age range 18-26 years in the university by using the financial stress scale, social support scale and mental health scale. Findings is that people suffering from financial stress had poor mental health; on the other hand, social support was positively related with mental health and lastly gender differences were found in mental health, it was found that women were more likely to have poor mental health and suffer from mental health issues than men, will be useful for reducing financial stress by giving social support. This study contributes towards the field of mental health which emphasizes how much social support is crucial for our mental health. Even when there is a financial crisis and stress, but with the right people by your side motivating you and helping you through the journey it really helps with your mental health. If social support were not in a person’s life, he would fall into deep mental health problems which could result in a very drastic end. The study emphasizes the importance of social support in limiting the harmful impacts of financial stress on the mental health of university students. To build a supportive and compassionate campus atmosphere, university officials should prioritize the construction and enhancement of social support services. The findings also highlight the importance of financial programs and financial aid choices for students in order to alleviate financial stress. Implementing financial well-being workshops and tools could improve students' emotional health and academic performance.
