(UMT.Lahore, 2021) Rushha Sajid; Naima Kiran; Humna Saeed
The present study aims to explore the relationship between attachment styles, Dyadic Coping and relationship satisfaction among married individuals. It was hypothesized that there is likely to be a positive relationship between secure attachment style and relationship satisfaction and negative relationship between anxious, avoidant attachment styles and relationship satisfaction. It was also hypothesized that there is likely to be a predictive role of dyadic coping in relationship satisfaction. In addition, it was assumed that females are more likely to be satisfied in their relationship as compared to males. The sample of the study was composed of 195 married individuals (92 males and 103 females). Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used to draw sample from population. Three measures including Adult Attachment Scale (AAS), Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI) and Couple Satisfaction Index (CSI) were administered in the study. Descriptive Statistics were calculated, for further analysis Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Multiple Regression analysis has been carried out. The results showed that secure attachment style was significantly positively correlated with relationship satisfaction and anxious attachment style was significantly negatively correlated with relationship satisfaction. The results of regression analysis indicated that dyadic coping was significantly positive predictor of relationship satisfaction. This study also highlighted that males were more satisfied in their relationship as compared to females. Moreover, this study has also drawn attention to mutual coping strategies to enhance relationship quality and satisfaction.
