Hybrid solar based charging station design for electric vehicles
    (UMT.Lahore, 2021) Muhammad Waqas Naeem
This proposal suggests a unique architecture for plug-in-hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) DC charging station at the megawatt level by the use of an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) controlled converter powered from photovoltaic (PV) units also, to save grid power during day light. Proposed topology is a combination of grid power and PV unit’s so that renewable energy sources can be utilized and to minimize the load on grid and system can fulfill demand during absence of grid also. PV unit’s power will be given maximum priority when available. To get maximum power from PV, an algorithm of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) will be used. An AC-DC converter will convert this combined power according to the vehicle demand. For convertor section, Vienna converter may be proposed. The suggested bipolar dc arrangement of Vienna converter decreases the stepdown effort for the AC-DC fast chargers. Furthermore, this research work will offer a balancing architecture which allows managing any deviation on the dc loads by adjusting center-point voltages. By traditionally describing the unbalance operation boundaries, the suggested scheme of control will be able to furnish complementary balancing potentials with use of an additional leg serving as a bidirectional DC-DC stage, handling the minimal load condition and also permitting the modulator to supervise the control on the dc voltages under the influence of different load conditions. The proposed Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference solution will authorize fast charging for plug-in-hybrid electric vehicles merged with central grid tied converter. So, in this proposal the simulation results carried out in Matlab will be furnished to authenticate the proposed charging station architecture.
