Item China’s territorial disputes on South China Sea with Philippines and Vietnam and the role of United States(University of Management and Technology, 2017) Muhammad TahirThis thesis highlights the dynamics of South China Sea dispute among China, Philippines and Vietnam in South China Sea. It provides the political, military and economic efforts of these countries to save their interests in the region. It shows the strategies of China, Philippines and Vietnam against each other over this issue. Though the US is non-resident state in this dispute but its defense relations with Vietnam and Philippines, its long term interests in this region and increasing political and military rivalry with emerging super power China all have forced the US to play an important role in this dispute. This research tries to find out the answer to research puzzle of why the US is trying to help claimant states against China when it is already having strong economic ties with the Beijing. The research has employed qualitative methodology within post positivist paradigm. To basic lens of Hegemonic Stability Theory and Strategic Hedging theory are applied during this research. For data analysis directed content analysis with more focus on manifest approach has been used. The core finding of the study is that peace lies in continuous diplomatic engagement. Any change in existing status quo might put the peace of whole region at risk.Item Intelligent railway system(UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, 2015) Sajawal Murtaza Manj; Muhammad Tahir; Awais AmjadThe venture shows that how to keep away from the mishaps by designing and implementing a series of circuits that prevent such incidents and minimizing the probability of accidents, this design would sense an obstruction ahead or any kind of thing out of the normal routine through a series of different sensors and will control the actions of the machines accordingly. It will have the location of the trains at all times and it can be manually operated or completely automated as per the requirements. It can control the trains through their locations too, resulting in saving the collision by adjusting or re-routing them, and if somehow the trains come in front of each other it will be programmed in such a way that it will take proper precautionary measures till the last minute so that the collision can be avoided.Item Joint rate-brightness control using variable rate mppm for led based visible light communication systems(IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS, 2013) Abu Bakar Siddique; Muhammad TahirLED based lighting systems provide an opportunity for data transmission in addition to their traditional use as source of illumination. Brightness control is required to achieve either desired level of illumination or to achieve energy conservation. Conventionally, simultaneous data transmission as well as brightness control is achieved using two different modulation schemes. Either pulse width modulation or pulse amplitude modulation is used for brightness control and some variants of pulse position modulation are employed for data transmission. The need for two different modulation schemes, to meet the dual objective, makes the system design complex. In this paper we propose variable-rate multi-pulse-position-modulation (VR-MPPM), for LED based visible light communication system, to achieve joint brightness control and data transmission. The proposed approach eradicates the need for either pulse width modulation or pulse amplitude modulation and still achieves the brightness control. Encoder and decoder algorithms for VR-MPPM realization are developed and are implemented on the hardware testbed. Experimental results revealing the effect of brightness level variation on symbol error rate are also provided. Existence of an underlying tradeoff between achievable resolution for brightness control and the corresponding successful data transmission rate is recognized. To exploit this trade-off, an optimization problem is formulated.Item Shortest path finder(University of Management and Technology, 2009) Rao Zahoor Ahmad; Muhammad Tahir; Qamar Hassan IqbalThe goal our project is to develop a Shortest Path Finder (SPF) with specified point on ground for indoor environment. Calculating the shortest path with the help of Dijkstra's Algorithm and moves the vehicle at given path from the Dijkstra's algorithm. As a Engineering Student we get opportunity to teach the Vehicle how to follow the line thus giving it a human-like property of responding to Stimuli. It's automatically changes the direction of the vehicle without external command or guidance. In this report we are also adding our Final project documentation.Item THE IMPACT OF INCORPORATING ISLAMIC TEACHINGS IN HIGHER EDUCATION ON YOUTH MORALITY AND INTELLECTUALITY: A CASE STUDY OF LAHORE PUNJAB, PAKISTAN(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Muhammad TahirThis study examines the impact of incorporating Islamic teachings into higher education on the moral and intellectual development of youth, focusing on Higher Education Institutions in District Lahore, Pakistan. In an era where educational practices are evolving, the integration of religious principles is increasingly seen as vital for shaping ethical and intellectual growth among students. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research collected data from both students and teachers at the University of Management and Technology (UMT). Quantitative data was gathered through structured surveys, while qualitative insights were drawn from interviews with scholars in the Department of Islamic Thought and Civilization. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between Islamic teachings and the moral and intellectual development of youth, with education serving as a crucial mediator. The study highlights the potential benefits of embedding Islamic values within the curriculum to foster a more ethically grounded and intellectually capable generation. The implications suggest that incorporating these teachings could lead to a more cohesive and morally responsible society, better equipped to navigate contemporary challenges.
