IMPACT OF ECONOMIC INSTABILITY AND LAWLESSNESS ON BRAIN DRAIN AMONG YOUTH IN PAKISTAN: CASE STUDY OF UMT STUDENTS
(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Muhammad Naveed Ahmad
This research investigates how economic instability and lawlessness influence on brain drain on youth. The study analyzes the impact of economic instability, the role of lawlessness on brain drain by taking case study of UMT students. A survey of 361 participants provided data for quantitative analysis. Economic volatility significantly impacts migration decisions, with factors like unemployment and opportunity availability influencing emigration intentions. Lawlessness, including crime and corruption, is another key driver. The analysis demonstrates a strong correlation between economic instability and brain drain, as indicated by an R-squared value of 0.73. The combined influence of economic instability and lawlessness on migration intentions is more pronounced than the impact of either factor individually. These findings underscore the need for policies aimed at economic stabilization, and improved security to retain skilled youth.
