This study identified classroom management strategies used by secondary school teachers and the level of student engagement in single-gender and mixed gender secondary schools of Lahore. The study was quantitative in nature. A sample of 206 teachers and 404 students was selected from secondary schools of Lahore using stratified random sampling. Classroom management was measured using Behavioral and Instructional Management Scale (BIMS) by Martin and Sass (2010) having reliability equals to 0.82. While the level of student engagement was measured using Student Engagement Instrument (SEI) by Appleton, Christenson, Kim, and Reschly (2006) having reliability equals to 0.88. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics by means and standard deviation, whereas MANOVA was used as inferential statistics. Results revealed that high mean values regarding teachers’ perceptions of behavioral management and instructional management practices in single-gender were found to be more positive as compared to mixed-gender secondary schools of Lahore. It was also found that high mean values regarding students’ perceptions of psychological engagement and cognitive engagement in mixed-gender schools were more positive as compared to single-gender schools.
