Item FDM based Additive Manufacturing solutions in Maintenance Repair Organizations. (Build part(s) with relevant designs and industrial applicability).(UMT, Lahore, 2022) Muhammad Ali Tahir; Tahseen Sabir; Mohammad FahimThe manufacturing of mechanical parts is required in many field and thus, CNC Machining is being used nowadays. This type of manufacturing is efficient and perfect for almost every field. However, it also has drawbacks which need to be considered and thus, outweigh its advantages. Therefore, Additive Manufacturing is increasingly being adopted by almost all the fields due to its advantages that outweigh the advantages of CNC Machining. The main focus of this document will be to support the project title which is to explain how additive manufacturing, specifically FDM based 3D printing, can aid maintenance-repair-overhaul organisations in Pakistan. This document also focuses on the utilization of additive manufacturing so that its awareness is increased and it proves to be extra advantageous than CNC Machining in Pakistan. Numerous additive manufacturing techniques, their comparison, pros and cons, their current status in the industry, designing a mechanical part for MRO using a CAD modelling software, testing of the material being used for 3D printing and an enhanced exposure to this technique’s current status in the industry have also been added. The document also briefly summarises as to what topics will be covered in the future and how the current findings will be utilised to further process this project and obtain ultimate final results at the end of this project
