A study of parents' involvement in education of their children at primary level
(UMT, Lahore, 2001) Ms. SHafizadi Jlsfifaq
This stud\- was conducted to know the extent to which laniilics are iinolved in their children s" education. And also to know the perception ol" teachers about parental involvement in education. The study was particularly aimed at exploring the ditticulties which teachers face during interaction with parents and also the intention of teachers to involve parents in education. For this, teachers were being interviewed. The data toi the study was collected through questionnaires and interviews with teachers working in three schools in the Lahore Cantt area. The data was analyzed in qualitative and quantitative paradigms for getting better picture of the entire situation. The analysis of the data revealed that majority of parents do take interest in the education of their children but they do not know the appropriate way through which they could make positive impact on the education of their children. Major emphasis of parents was to see that their children did homework and the most pre\ ailing way to help children in this regard was to provide tuition after school hours. The parents thus tired to pass the onus of responsibility for education of their children on classroom teachers and the tutor who helped the children
