    Attachment, intimacy and relationship satisfaction among childless married men and women

    The present investigation is carried to comprehend the connection between attachment, intimacy and relationship satisfaction among childless married men and women and to examine the impact of intimacy on relationship satisfaction as well as on attachment. Also to observe the impact of demographic variables on gender, marriage type and family system. Non-probability sampling technique was used for data collection purpose and data was collected from Lahore and Islamabad. The present study comprises of 53 (25 Male, 28 Female) married individuals who were treatment seeking couples (Naturally childless) age range between 20-35, whose duration of marriage was minimum 3 years, Measurement tools used for assessment were Adult Attachment Scale (Collins & Read 1990), PAIR (Schaefer & Olson, 1981) and Relationship Assessment Scale (Hendrick, 1988). Analysis revealed significant positive relationship between close attachment and perceived recreational intimacy, dependent attachment and expected emotional intimacy. Whereas negative correlation was found between dependent attachment and expected emotional intimacy and expected recreational intimacy, anxious attachment and perceived social intimacy and perceived recreational intimacy. Relationship satisfaction was not found to be associated with any variable. The current study have implications for physicians, psychiatrists, family counsellors and therapists in their treatment process.

    Personality characteristics, family environment and aggressive behavior among young criminals in Pakistan

    Aggressive personality motivates aggressive thoughts that may result in aggressive actions and in the end to an aggressive adult personality during maturation. Furthermore aggressive behavior may lead to criminal behavior. The family environment also involves the circumstances and social climate conditions within families. The aim of conducting present study was to explore personality characteristics of young criminals. Further present study also examined the impact of family environment on aggressive behavior among young criminals. This study was an effort to explore that how family environment have a significant effect on aggressive behavior further what type of personality characteristics young criminals have and how their personality have environment on their aggressive behavior. The findings from this study help to understand the significant factors impacting an aggressive behavior among young criminals. By identifying these issues we will be able to prepare management strategies that have significant influence on aggressive behavior of young criminals.

Hypothesis of the present study was that 1) Personality characteristics are significantly related to aggressive behavior among young criminals. 2) Family environment is significantly related to personality characteristics among criminals. 3) Family environment is significantly related to aggressive behavior among young criminals. The participants of study comprised of 95male young adults, exposed to crime from at least five years, ages across 14 - 29 years. Sample was recruited from central jail of Lahore through systematic random sampling technique. The measurement tools used for assessment of personality characteristics , family environment and aggressive behavior of young criminals were Neo Five personality inventory (Costa & McCrae 1990) translated version by Ahmad Khan, Family Environment Scale (Moos. B & Moos. R 1994) translated version by Irfan (2014) and The aggression Questionnaire (Buss and Perry 1992) translated version by Malik (2014). Analysis revealed significant positive correlation between physical aggression and agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experiences. Hostility was observed positively correlated to agreeableness and openness to experience. Anger was seen positively correlated to agreeableness, openness to experiences. Overall score on aggression was positively correlated to agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness to experiences and negatively correlated to extroversion. Score on extroversion indicated negative correlation to physical aggression and anger. Outcome showed evidence of significant positive correlation between agreeableness and relationship dimension, personal growth dimension, system maintenance dimension. Overall score on family environment shows positive correlation with agreeableness and openness to experiences and negative correlation with extroversion. Extroversion was put on view as negatively correlated with relationship dimension and personal growth dimension
