Item Conjugation of silver nanoparticles with mint neem, and ginger extracts to undergo antimicrobial analysis(UMT Lahore, 2022) KIRAN FAROOQ; MEMOONA BASHARAT; MUHAMMAD TAHIRNanoparticles have emerged as important tools in health biotechnology, with transition metals playing key roles in various biological applications. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are particularly noteworthy due to their non-toxic, inorganic antibacterial properties, making them promising alternatives to conventional antibiotics. The main objective of this study was to develop a green synthesis method for AgNPs by conjugating them with plant extracts. Plant-mediated synthesis is advantageous because it is simple, eco-friendly, cost-effective, and incorporates a wide variety of plant metabolites that facilitate ion reduction. In this study, ginger, mint, and neem extracts were used for conjugation with AgNPs due to their inherent antibacterial properties. This conjugation was evaluated for activity against resistant bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. Antibacterial efficacy was assessed using the well diffusion method, and spectrophotometric analysis was performed to quantify activity. Additionally, FTIR analysis was employed to determine the size, shape, functional groups, and successful encapsulation of AgNPs with the plant extracts. Among the tested plants, ginger demonstrated the highest antimicrobial activity, followed by mint and neem.
