Nanotechnology is an emerging field of science and technology. Different nanoparticles are used to diagnose various cancerous and tumor cells as well as used in antibacterial infections. Chitosan nanoparticles have exceptional antibacterial properties, and when combined with medicinal plant extracts like neem and turmeric, their activity can be enhanced, as these extracts also contain antibacterial agents. The Chitosan nanoparticles were prepared by using chemical method and then were conjugated with antimicrobial agents’ nimbin and curcumin from neem and turmeric, respectively. The gluteraldehyde method was performed in which gluteraldehyde was used with 5% total concentration of gluteraldehyde to provide functional group. This functional group helped them to bind the chitosan nanoparticles with plant extracts. The characterization of Chitosan Nps and their conjugation with extracts were done by UV-Visible spectrophotometry, FT-IR, and light microscope. The antimicrobial properties were characterized by performing well diffusion method with concentrations of 20 to 80μl and the diameter of zone of inhibition was measured. The results showed that chitosan conjugated with neem and curcumin have enhanced antibacterial activity and can be used in medicines to treat bacterial infections.
