    Voice over internet protocol

    VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Is a technology, which permits to make telephone calls using a broadband connection Instead of a regular phone line. It Is a network-based application In which user dials a long distance phone number, the call goes through a local telephone company to a VoIP provider, this Is a local call. The call then goes over the Internet to the receiver's local calling area where a local call Is placed (by the VoIP provider) to complete the connection. The user has just circumvented the long distance company and eliminated the long distance phone bill.
