Autonomous robotic cleaner for solar panels
(University of Management and Technology Lahore, 2017) Muhammad Saad Sohail; Shahroz Malik; Hassan Ali; Muhammad Abdul Rehman
Sustainable power source is a vitality that is gathered from inexhaustible assets, which are normally recharged on a human timescale, for example, daylight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal warmth. This wellspring of vitality has turned out to be eco-accommodating when contrasted with its partners i.e. coal and atomic vitality. Solar panels are designed to absorb the energy coming from the sun and to convert it into electricity for further use. With the production of solar panels their maintenance and cleaning is a huge task. As the name suggests we are making an “Autonomous Robotic Cleaner for Solar Panels”. We have designed a robotic cleaner which is comparatively cheap and more efficient as compared to its counter parts. Our robotic cleaner is completely autonomous and it operates on the basis of a pre-defined algorithm. The algorithm can be modified by the user according to their requirement. It is portable, durable and user-friendly. It minimizes the human effort. Our autonomous robotic cleaner will follow the forward-backward algorithm for the process of cleaning. This working methodology is less time consuming and more efficient as compared to its counter parts. During our work on this project we came across different innovative ideas which we can implement in the future to make our robot more robust and efficient

    Compound emotion detection
(University of Management and Technology Lahore, 2017) Nadeem Arif; Juniad Jabbar Faizi; Raees Hafeez; Hassan Ali
Emotion recognition and detection is an emerging area of research for the last decade. The studies on emotions highlights the fact that the focus of researchers has been further extended from basic emotions to compounds emotions due to its vast applications in surveillance systems, suspicious person detection, pain detection, automated patients observation in hospitals and driver monitoring. The study proposes and implements novel approaches using the Martinez dataset [2] that compute various features using facial fiducial points given in Martinez dataset to recognize basic and compound emotions. The results show that our approaches outperform the existing approach given in Martinez paper [2] using the same data set in terms of accuracy and time efficiency. Different approaches applied which have list of feature used to get the accuracy of 77.33 %. List of features include angles, length to width ratio of eyes and lips, triangles, ratio of triangles and angles, slope table, histogram of gradients, regional properties.

Unveiling the Transformative Power of Artificial Intelligence
    (UMT, Lahore, 2024) Hassan Ali
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has quickly become a game changer, in industries such as healthcare, finance and education. This study delves into the pros and cons of AI in these fields by analyzing 19 articles ranging from 2018 to 2023. The assessment uncovers a range of effects of AI technology such as disease identification and treatment, in healthcare settings and upgraded financial decision-making processes alongside fraud detection measures and tailored educational experiences for learners. With the increasing use of AI come worries, about job loss and environmental harm too. The substitution of labor with automation could result in unemployment, within different sectors. Additionally, the electricity usage and electronic waste linked to the creation and use of AI can worsen environmental conditions. In order to tackle these issues effectively it is essential to examine the concerns related to AI and create plans to lessen its adverse impacts. By grasping the advantages and disadvantages of AI, government officials, scientists and business figures can collaborate on leveraging its capabilities while reducing any harm.
