    Presidential or Parliamentary form of Government in Pakistan:

    Ever since it gained independence from the British Empire in August 1947, Pakistan has faced a myriad of problems related to governance, which has resulted in the country being consistently ranked as one of the worst in the world based on a number of indicators. One of the topics which comes up for debate when the issue of governance in Pakistan is being discussed is that whether the country should be run according to a Presidential form of Government or a Parliamentary one. The problem that arises is that such a debate is almost always political in nature – and, by extension, it tends to rile up emotions. The purpose of this paper is to look at the issue of whether Pakistan should be governed according to a Presidential form of Government or Parliamentary one through a purely legal and Constitutional angle, in order to determine whether any of these systems contains any inherent qualities which can resolve the issues being faced by Pakistan.
