    An investigation of correlation of vitamin d with calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase in general population of the punjab

    Vitamin D is a sunshine vitamin which is produced when skin is exposed to ultra violet rays of sun. It is also taken from diet. Vitamin D involves in many biological function in the body. Its deficiency associated with many factors. It is responsible for the regulation of serum calcium and phosphorus level. Alkaline phosphatase, calcium and phosphorus are also responsible for the maintenance of musculoskeletal health. The aim of this study was to find the correlation of serum vitamin D with serum calcium, phosphorus and ALP in general population of Punjab. In this cross sectional study, total 250 samples were analysed and biochemical testing was done on normal healthy population. Patients were further categorized on the basis of gender and age. According to this study, there is no significant difference (p < 0.05). Low vitamin D reported in this study may be associated with other factors except calcium, phosphorus and ALP.
