    OFDM simulation using MATLAB
(UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, 2015) Junaid Hafeez Butt; Irfan Haider; Bilal Suleman
There are two types of Communication Systems. One is Single Carrier System and other is Multi Carrier System. In Single Carrier System, only one carrier can transmit the data stream, the bandwidth is higher and data rate maximum.Inter Symbol Interference (ISI)arises in these carrier systems and to evade it, the signal should meet the criterion set by nyquist. In a Multi Carrier System, commonly referred to as Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM)multiple carriers are transmitted in parallel having different bandwidth. This technique is rather complex to implement but by using this delay time is reduced. If the carriers are closely spaced with each other high data rate will be achieved. In multi carrier system, there occurs an issue of Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) because the carriers are so closely spaced with each other. Guard bands are placed between sub-carriers so that there will be no ICI.
