The expenses for metering, billing, and collecting dues has become complex as electricity is supplied to large number of consumers located in far distributed areas also. This may encourage consumers to alter or temper meter readings. To address these problems, distribution companies can go for the solution of prepaid smart card energy meter, which can finish the whole problems associated with the present billing system and will make the consumer more conscious about usage of electricity. This project report explores the concept and designing of smart card prepaid electricity meter system, which will enable the consumer to buy required amount of energy and also provide information about their credit balance.
