Anisotropic charged compact star core-envelope model
    (UMT Lahore, 2021) Ayesha Khalid
The main purpose of this research is to study core-envelope model for anisotropic charged sphere by using the Einstein’s Maxwell field equations for compact stars. The equation of state is polytropic for core and linear for envelope. The core, envelope and the Reissner Nordström exterior regions of stars match smoothly. This discussion shows non-singularity, continuity at the collaboration and physical parameters inside stars. The presence of charge electric field in star influence the mass, radius, compactification factor and there effects on gravity. The metric potentials and matter distribution are well behaved.

Finding the Middle Ground in Mornings in Jenin and To the End of the Land
    (UMT Lahore, 2021) Ayesha Khalid
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the narratives of the two-opposing people—Israelis and Palestinians—as shown in David Grossman’s To the End of the Land and Susan Abulhawa’s Mornings in Jenin. Abulhawa and Grossman have presented the effects of Israel-Palestine conflict on the day-to-day lives of the people of both nationalities. This study scrutinizes the identity issues and trauma of the characters, and argues that the personal and national identities mutually affect each other. Moreover, this research employs the contemporary trauma theory as developed by Cathy Caruth to understand the role of trauma in the construction of identities. Additionally, this thesis employs transgenerational trauma theory to explicate how trauma of the past generations haunts the later generations and forms the identities of the latter. Employing Giorgio Agamben’s theory of extraterritoriality, this thesis explores the possibility of connecting the people of both nationalities despite their differences. This research analyzes different events in the texts as well as in history to show how ‘the Other’ and ‘the situation’ are viewed differently by the two communities. Looking at the conflict from both perspectives may help in coming to an agreement that could be acceptable to the nationals of Israel/Palestine.

The imitation of the mini museum based on the invention of aircrafts and human lights has been carried out to provide a clear picture of all the innovations as well as accomplishments of Wright brothers (of Wilbur and Orville Wright). We’ve tried to bring the whole scene of the birth of aviation to UMT-IAS Department because not everybody can visit the Kitty Hawk in order to get detailed information regarding the artifacts that we have displayed here. The students will not only learn about the various artifacts but will also get detailed knowledge regarding the history of the aviation and the birth of aviation as well as aeronautics, and the whole aerospace industry which was a long process lasted over century from 1799- 1914. The display of Museum not only involves the accomplishments and the major events of Wright brothers but also the courage and creativity of the men and women traversing several generations and many nations till now. In Pakistan, we are the first one who are trying to exhibit the museum in UMT and this museum (replica) will prove itself a permanent asset for the not only the IAS, students but also for the faculty to demonstrate every major event in aviation during imparting knowledge to their concerned students.

Sino-Indian Counter-Balancing Strategies in the Indian Ocean
    (UMT.Lahore, 2020) Ayesha Khalid
This research thesis explains the growing Sino-Indian strategic rivalry in the Indian Ocean. Both states are indulged in balancing strategies to counter each other in the region. India wants to achieve the status of a regional hegemon. On the other hand, China is focusing on enhancing its economic and military capabilities to become a world power. These competing powers are trying to consolidate their strategic hold in the region by establishing naval bases, ports and other infrastructural projects in the Indian Ocean littoral states. In this study, the Sino Indian balancing behavior has been explained using the lens of the theory of balance of threat. According to this theory, States balance against threat instead of power. Chinese growing presence and military buildup in form of BRI and other connectivity projects has raised Indian insecurities. India is focusing on increasing its military capabilities and establishing close relations with other states of the region in an attempt of countering Chinese rise in its backyard. In response to Chinese BRI, India has opted Act East policy to enhance cooperation with its neighbors in order to lessen Chinese threat factor. India has joined hands with US to counter Chinese growing influence. Likewise, China has aligned with Pakistan to counter India’s rise in the region. Sino-Indian strategic competition will intensify more in the coming years. This growing strategic balancing will bring certain challenges and of course opportunities for Pakistan in future. Therefore Pakistan needs to be vibrant enough to utilize its strategic location to maximize its benefits.
