    Psychological adjustment
(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Hafsa Adil Chughtai; Amna Ajmal
Work performance depicts the conduct of lawyers in properly carrying out their tasks and accomplishing what they are supposed to on their jobs. Psychological adjustment represents a lawyer’s ability to modify their behaviour, emotions and overall personality according to the major changes in his or her life. Relationship satisfaction explains the shape of a lawyer’s personal relationship and whether or not both parties are content with the place their relationship is in. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between these three variables; psychological adjustment, relationship satisfaction and work performance particularly in lawyers dealing with intimate partner violence cases. The first hypothesis stated that there was likely to be a positive relationship between psychological adjustment, relationship satisfaction and work performance. The second hypothesis stated that psychological adjustment and relationship satisfaction were likely to be positive predictors of work performance. A correlational study analysed a sample of 119 lawyers (Men = 85; Women = 34) between the ages of 25-60 (M = 33, SD = 8.67), using purposive sampling. The measures included; The Brief Adjustment Scale-6 (Cooper et al., 2021), The Couples Satisfaction Index (Funk and Rogge, 2007) and Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (Koopmans et al., 2015). Pearson product-moment correlation analysis demonstrated a significant positive relationship between total job experience, psychological adjustment, relationship satisfaction and work performance. Finally, multiple regression illustrated a significant positive predicting role of psychological adjustment on work performance but not relationship satisfaction was not a significant predictor. The study works to draw notice to the repercussions they may have to face after dealing with violent cases. This will subsequently lead mental health professionals to better understand how lawyers’ ix careers can personally influence them
