    Attitudes of students towards learning english as a second langauge in colleges of gilgit baltistan

    Attitude is a fundamental aspect of human behavior that encompasses an individual's outlook, perspective, and disposition. This research tries to highlight the attitudes of students towards learning English as a second language in colleges of Gilgit Baltistan and also this study aims to assess the statistical significance of the distinctness in attitudes towards Second language learning positioned on gender. A framework provided by Gardner (1985) is used in this research study. The data is collected from 70 students as second language learning students enrolled in random colleges across Gilgit Baltistan through questionnaires using Likert scale and is analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative research method. The findings of this research unveil that the majority of language learning students in colleges of Gilgit Baltistan hold positive approach towards learning English in the behavioral, cognitive, and emotional learning areas. Students recognize English as a crucial language for academic and career advancement. Moreover, students expressed a strong desire to improve their language skills learning English and acknowledged the importance of English in modern world. These findings highlight the need for implementing effective strategies to overcome these challenges and create a conducive learning environment for language learners. Further T-Test was applied through SPSS and the findings show that both male and female have the same perception about language attitude. The statistically significance of this research lies in its potential to help policymakers, educators, and other stakeholders involved in English language education in Gilgit-Baltistan. This research can provide valuable insight and can enhance the effectiveness of English language teaching in colleges.
