    Psychosocial reactions of trauma in internally displaced persons

    The study was carried out with the aim of investigating psychosocial reactions of trauma in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were subjected to displacement due to military operation in the region. It was a cross-sectional study and around104 (M= 31.20, SD=9.32) IDPs were included. Posttraumatic Stress Diagnostic Scale (PDS) was administered. The findings revealed that around 17% of IDPs showed severe symptoms. The females were at more risk for PTSD than males, but no significant differences were found in both the genders when it was about impairment in daily life functioning, both were equally affected. The satisfaction of life was decreased, too. No diagnosis was made for PTSD, but on many symptoms results were significant. The results were described according to cultural manifestation, and it was revealed that symptom severity decreased when the duration of being displaced increased.
