Solar power based intelligent battery charging system compatible with existing home inverters
(UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, 2015) Subhan Rana; Ammad Ud Din; Abdullah Rao; Hafiz Waqar Shakir
Solar panels are now using in every battery charging system in home inverter due to load shedding in developing countries. This work goes for expanding the utilization of sun oriented vitality by charging the battery and in addition by supplying it to the load when in overabundance. This project is done by implementing two subsystems, a charge controller and a Power Flow Management System (PMS). The charge controller is controlling power from the panels to battery which is working in two modes, the maximum power point tracking mode (MPPT) which extract maximum power from panel and overcharging controller. A 150W model of the charge controller is implemented in hardware. The operation of the controller in the two modes is confirmed and the applicable results are displayed. A PV framework actualized in houses includes different power sources and sinks. Power flow management system is implemented using the state of charge (SOC) of battery. The SOC is determined utilizing Open Circuit Voltage Test. The results done in the report, explain the validation of the project made. Hence, the report explains the overall design and implementation of a MPPT Charge Controller and power flow management system to enhance the efficiency of solar panel and to utilize the solar power in the best way we can.
