Item Internet addiction, emotional regulation and sleep quality in university students(UMT, Lahore, 2025) DURYAB FATIMA; AZKA YOUSAF; MARIA MAZHAR; AFEERA ASYAThe present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between Internet addiction emotional regulation and sleep problems in university students. The study sample size consisted of 200 participants (N=200) With age of 18 to 28 years from private university of Lahore. The study employed standardized scale including the Internet addiction test (IAT), difficulties in emotional regulation scale (DERS), and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) to measure the variables. The result of correlation analysis revealed that the higher level of Internet addiction was significantly associated with greater emotional regulation difficulties and poor sleep quality. Regression analysis indicated that Internet addiction was a positive predictor of both emotional dysregulation and sleep. Furthermore, emotional regulation particularly medicated the relationship between Internet addiction and sleep quality. The result of t-tests revealed no significant gender difference in Internet addiction levels, although females show slightly higher emotional dysregulation, while males demonstrated greater tendencies emphasized the need for interventions promoting healthier digital habits and emotional coping strategies to enhance sleep and overall psychological well-being among university students.
