CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION IN ELITE SCHOOLS A QUALITATIVE CONTENT ANALYSIS OF TEXTBOOKS
    (UMT, Lahore, 2023) ARJUMAND RAUF
Given its colonial legacy, Pakistan has attributes to be labelled as an elitist state whereby precious chosen few can govern and influence all spheres of life. It is important to make elites conscious of their roles and responsibilities towards the state. The task of developing responsible, participative, and informed citizens is championed by citizenship education. Therefore, it is desirable to explore the status of citizenship education in elite schools in Pakistan. Keeping in view this situation, the present study aimed to answer the question raised by the geniuses of elitism along with the significance of citizenship education that how well the elites in Pakistan are prepared concerning their civic roles and responsibilities. Under the umbrella of the social constructivist approach, qualitative content analysis was used. The approach developed by Elo and Kyngäs for content analyses was used in this study.
