Item Role of technology to enhance the teaching and learning process in higher educational institutions of lahore, punjab(UMT.Lahore, 2019) AMINA ASIFIn education, the visualization of innovations and evolving new strategies has gone next to impossible without incorporating the digital skills, which are mandatory for the learning/teaching and professional growth as well. In the present scenario every country needs to invest in digital skills acquisition and growth in teaching/learning field, thereby reducing the gaps and discrimination in the society. The use of modern technology will not only enhance the intellect potential of a nation but also increase the pace of its development. The use of ICT in education makes distant learning congenial and fruitful and benefits those who cannot attend the school due to social/personal constraints. In formal education, ICT can play a vital role. In this study we examined certain issues which are hurdles in implementation of ICT in education and also give some important suggestions to address those challenges to increase the quality of education at higher level. There are no standards or set parameters which we can follow to improve the quality of education. This study explored the gaps which enhanced the teaching and learning process distinctively literature covered the impact of ICT on higher education in teaching and learning process. The review covers Integration and Implementation of ICT in classrooms, ICT tools used in classrooms, Challenges face in HEI’s, teaching practices. Besides summarizing the main findings of this study will be helpful for the integration of ICT in higher educational institutions and teachers will also be trained for its implementation in their classes for the life-long learning of the students. It was the quantitative method of study. Quantitative data were collected by filling the questionnaires by the faculty members and students of different private universities of Lahore. Respondents of the study were teachers of Masters’ level, MPhil and Ph.D., Post Doc and the students of Masters’ (M.A/M.S) or MPhil level. From the total population, sample of study was based on three hundred students and one hundred and fifty teachers from the private universities of Lahore, Punjab. The major outcome of this study was that both teachers and students are willing to use the ICT in their daily lives as well as in education for the lifelong learning of the students. They agreed on this point that through the use of ICT students take the responsibility of their learning by themselves and here teachers act as facilitators only.
