    Factors Affecting Students’ Motivation in Acquiring English as Second Language A Study on Students’ English Language Insights at University of Management & Technology

    English language is considered as the language of the world as it is widely used language across all the continents. In this contemporary era of science and technology, English is used as a major and significant tool of communication. Pakistan has English language as its official language and there are several that contribute to the stimulus of driving motivation of students at tertiary level to acquire English as their second language. This study explores the factors that affect the motivation level of students in tertiary education in ESL learning. A Quantitative method approach was used to conduct this study. An online structured questionnaire was designed using 5-point Likert scale. A sample of 91 students from University of Management and Technology was selected through random sampling technique as participants for the study and were asked to participate by filling the questionnaire. The research is divided into 6 sections including, Instrumentality (Promotion), Instrumentality (Prevention), English Anxiety, Ideal L2-Self, Ought to L2-Self, and Interest in English, getting a detailed view of students’ perspectives and affect of motivational factors on ESL learning
