Evaluation of antibacterial activity of economically important medicinal plants
    (UMT, Lhr, 2021) ADIL ALI
Water and ethanolic extract obtained from plants Onosma bracteatum (flowers and leaves), Viola odorata (flowers and leaves), Cuscuta reflexa (whole plants), Swertia chirata (whole plants), Fagonia Arabica (whole plants) against gram negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli (gram negative bacteria) and Bacillus subtilis (gram positive bacteria) to determine their antibacterial potential. The 50µl/ml extract of plant used in agar well diffusion method for evaluation antibacterial activity. The 100ml ethanol and water used as solvents. The MIC determine by micro broth dilution method by NBT (nitro-blue tetrazolium chloride) used to seen cell viability as redox potential. Ethanolic extract of Viola odorata flower revealed highest inhibition zone (18mm) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa by agar well diffusion method as compare to all other plants used in this study.
