Item Use of saraiki language (l1) in the esl classrooms of kot mithan(UMT.Lahore, 2023) Ahmad Hassan RafiqThis thesis examines Saraiki's use in Kot Mithan ESL classrooms and its potential impact on students' English proficiency. This project aims to examine students' and instructors' views on Saraiki in ESL classes and how a bilingual approach affects language learning. Teachers and students completed Likert scale questionnaires to collect quantitative data. The findings show that ESL instructors have diverse opinions on Saraiki in education. Many educators support using Saraiki to teach grammar, reading, spoken language, and vocabulary, but others disagree or are neutral. These findings show that educators and other stakeholders need more research and discussion about using Saraiki in ESL classrooms to reach a consensus. These discussions should consider the students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds, language learning goals, language policy, and location. The data show a wide range of student opinions on introducing Saraiki into ESL. Some students are against using Saraiki in various contexts for language learning, but most are in favor. Effective language instruction requires inclusive, supportive, and student-centered environments. If allowed, students' participation in language instruction discussions can help teachers make smart decisions and adapt their instruction to meet their students' needs. This enhances students' language learning. According to the data, students in bilingual classrooms change their perceptions of their English proficiency across a variety of language skills. Despite concerns about listening comprehension and spoken English, students seem more confident in their reading and writing skills. These findings show how much a bilingual approach impacts student language growth. It is important to recognize that rural students and bilingual students may have different English language proficiency challenges and advantages. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding attitudes toward Saraiki language use in Kot Mithan's English as a Second Language classes. Teachers will be better able to incorporate the Saraiki language and improve their students' language learning by having meaningful conversations and considering multiple perspectives. This study adds to ESL language policy and teaching method debates. Kot Mithan's unique linguistic and cultural dynamics make this especially important.
