Item Nuclear reaction data for the production of arsenic-72(UMT, Lahore, 2015) Ammara IftikharNuclear medicine is a well-established medical science today. It involves diagnostic as well as therapeutic procedures. Positron emission tomography (PET) is already well developed imaging modality, over the past decade the significance of PET has been increasing to investigate the slow biological processes. PET is generally performed using pharmaceuticals labeled with short-lived positron emitters of organic nature [i.e. 11C (T1/2 = 20min), 13N (T1/2 = 10min), 15O (T1/2= 2min) and 18F (T1/2=110min]. However, short-lived positron emitters were not successful, first because of their half-lives and secondly an on-site cyclotron is essential for the production of these short-lived radionuclides. 72As is a radioisotope which may act as positron emitter. The nuclear data for its production will be compiled in this study. The recommended data is expected to be generated with the help of MATHEMATICA software and based on the methodology mentioned in the IAEA-INDC (NDS)-630.
