    Normative male alexithymia

    Having insight about inner world makes a person realize about his emotions and feelings. When a person know about his sentiments, he can respond according to his needs. Knowing his own emotions help him to express them in appropriate way. Normative male alexithymia makes the person suffer from emotion blindness. The main objective of this study was to find the relationship between normative male alexithymia, use of music and aggression in young adult males. Scales used in this study were NMAS (Normative Male Alexithymia Scale), UMI (Use of Music Inventory) and RPQ (Reactive Proactive Questionnaire).A sample of 200 university students were collected from different institutes. The data collected was analyzed by using SPSS involve correlation and regression. Results of study shows that there is positive and significant relationship between normative male alexithymia and reactive aggression but no relationship between NMA and proactive aggression. They also suggest that NMA have no relationship with emotional use of music while it shows positive and significant relationship with cognitive and background use of music. So we come up with conclusion having deprived of inner feelings makes them act reactively but proactively due to poor insight of inner world. Which proceeds further with music use and suggest that emotion blindness is so much deeply rooted in NMA individuals that they even don’t prefer emotional usage of music and prefer cognitive along with background music use.
