Item Materialism(UMT.Lahore, 2019) Khadija Jamil; Mehreen BashirThe current study investigated materialism, brand Consciousness and psychological distress in University Students. It was a cross-sectional study and 190 students ranged in ages between 18–28 years from universities participated in the study. A convenience sampling method was used to draw a sample. The research revealed there was likely to be relationship materialism, brand consciousness and psychological distress in University Students. There positive predictive role of materialism between, brand consciousness and psychological distress in University Students. Materialism (MVS), brand consciousness Scale, and Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) were used for assessment. The results revealed materialism negatively correlate with brand consciousness and psychological distress. Whereas, it had a significant positive relationship with relationship status. Pearson product-moment correlation revealed that brand consciousness has a significant positive relationship with psychological distress and family system. While it negatively correlates with institute and income. Pearson product-moment correlation revealed that psychological distress was positively significantly correlated with age and birth order. The Hierarchal regression was conducted to identify the predictors of materialism from brand Consciousness and psychological distress. Brand Consciousness and psychological distress variables emerge as a significant positive predictor of materialism.
