Item Comparative analysis of quality of life of students with hearing impairment studying in public and private institutions(UMT Lahore, 2024-10-11) Narmeen IrfanQuality of Life (QoL) is defined as “an individual's perception of their position in life in context of culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns.” The purpose of the study was to compare the quality of life of students with hearing loss enrolled in public and private institutions of Lahore as the experiences and opportunities of these students are greatly affected by their school environment. The study followed the quantitative research paradigm. The research type was descriptive conducted by survey method of research. A survey questionnaire was developed, based on eight domains of QoL derived after extensive literature review, including physical, emotional, interpersonal, social, personal, material, self-determination, and rights. All Hearing Impaired students enrolled from grades 6th to 10th in public and private schools were considered as the population of the current research study. 407 students were selected conveniently as sample of the study from 08 public and 03 private institutions of Lahore city. Among the sample, 221 students were studying in public and 186 students in private schools. Researcher personally visited all institutions to collect the data. Both descriptive as well inferential statistical analyses were used to analyze the collected data. The findings of the study showed that students of private schools were more satisfied about the quality of life as compared to the public schools students. The study recommended that both parents and school should have a strong collaboration to improve the quality of life of students with hearing impairment.
