    IMPACT OF PROBATION ON OFFENDERS REHABILITATION AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF PUNJAB PROVINCE

    This research examines the impact of probation on offender’s rehabilitation in the province of Punjab (2013-2018 The results revealed that given the practical dimension of probation system in Punjab, the rehabilitation of offenders is a distant dream as it is a difficult task for probation officers to assist and befriend with the offenders because of increase in the number of probationers on the one hand and lethargic approach of those at the helm of affairs. It is founded that the Reclamation & Probation Department lacks the support of the Government for improvement of the probation system in the province as it is deprived of necessary infrastructure and departmental identity. So, the research concludes that RPD could not effectively contribute towards the ultimate purpose of criminal justice system; to rehabilitate and reintegrate offenders into the society.
