Care giving burden, perceived social support and burnout tendencies among mothers of children with neurodevelopmental disorders

This study was aimed to explore the relationship between Caregiving Burden, Perceived Social Support and Burnout Tendencies among Mother of Children with Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). Cross-sectional research design was used and the sample of 100 participants from the city of Lahore (n=100) was studied. Data was collected from mothers by using purposive sampling strategy. Main hypothesis was tested in the current study and three measures include Zarit Burden Interview, Multidimensional Scale for Perceived Social Support Urdu and Burnout Tendency Scale. Data was analyzed through SPSS software. Results of correlation analysis indicated that perceived social support has significant negative correlation with Caregiving Burden and Burnout Tendencies. The Caregiving Burden and Burnout Tendencies were significantly positively correlated. Findings of linear regression analysis depicted that emotional burden was significant positive predictor while perceived support of significant others was significant negative predictor of Burnout Tendency. Findings of current study were discussed in accordance to previous literature and Pakistani cultural context.
