Item Trait anger and approval of violence as predictors of corporal punishment in secondary school teachers(UMT, Lahore, 2019) Ahmad TahaThe study aimed to explore the predictive relationship of Trait Anger and Approval of Violence on Corporal Punishment in Teachers of secondary (grade 6 to grade 12). Data was collected through non-probability convenient sampling and a sample of 118 (men = 31, women = 78, no response= 9), from different Secondary schools of Lahore. The research design was correlational cross-sectional. Data was collected through Attitude Towards Spanking (ATS) (Holden, Coleman, & Schmidt, 1995), Criminal Attitude towards Violence Scale (CATVS) (Polaschek, Collie, & Walkey, 2004) and Anger Response Inventory (ARI) (Tangney, Borenstein, & Barlow, 1995). The data was analyzed through Pearson product-moment and regression analysis. Results revealed that there was a significant correlation between Anger Arousal and Approval of Violence, between Approval of Violence and Corporal Punishment and a nonsignificant negative correlation between Anger Arousal and Corporal Punishment. Moreover, Anger Arousal after controlling significant predictors in hierarchical regression became a positive predictor of Corporal Punishment nearing significance. Approval of Violence was a non-significant positive predictor and Indirect Harm was a significant positive predictor of CP. Removal from Situation and Constructive Action (subscales of Adaptive response to anger) both were significant negative predictors of CP.
