Item Social media usage, fear of covid- 19(UMT.Lahore, 2022) Sara Munir; Meena; Aliza JavaidCovid-19 is an ongoing pandemic that has affected the lives of thousands of people. This disease has induced fear among young adults that they will get Covid-19 and will lose their lives. Social media has provoked fear among young adults as they mostly rely on social media for every kind of information. The current study was conducted to explore the relationship between social media usage, fear of Covid-19 and suicidal ideation among young adults during the pandemic Covid-19. Through purposive sampling, 200 (Men=100, Women=100) young adults with an age range of 18 to 30 years were contacted from different areas of Pakistan. The Social Media Scale (Kaya, 2020), Fear of Covid-19 Scale (Ahorsu et al., 2020), and Suicidal Ideation Attribute Scale (Spijker, 2014) were administered to assess the relationship between the variables. A significant positive relationship was found between social media usage and fear of Covid-19. While, significant negative relationship was found between fear of Covid-19 and suicidal ideation. A non-significant negative relationship was found between social media usage and suicidal ideation. This research is helpful for young adults in order to understand the role and importance of social media in our lives, i.e., the positive and negative impacts of social media, and can also be helpful for the counselling of young adults.
