    STATE AND BANK LEVEL FACTORS AFFECTING BANK PROFITABILITY

    Purpose– In economic progress, the bank plays a major responsibility in the growth of the state. This thesis is devised to consider the influence of internal and external factors on profitability in banking industry of Pakistan and the Bangladesh by applying multi-level regression to evaluate how banks internal factors or external factors help to gain more profitability. Design/methodology/approach – Twelve years’ data have been extracted for the years 2009- 2020 for 19 Pakistani and 11 Bangladesh banks from the banks financial reports. Originality – This study attempts to develop into the phenomenon to analyze these developing economies and which of internal and external causes and their effect on the profitability of Pakistan and the Bangladesh. The most important aspect of this research is that it is the only study that has been conducted on this subject unrelatedly to the idea that the banking sector has grown up recently and the demand of banking industry increased globally. This appeals for banking industry to acquire the determinants which have a direct relation with profitability so that profitability in banks is made sure. Findings–The findings showed that there is inverse relation between loan loss provisions, loan ration with bank’s profitability. The results of the present study are of inordinate importance for the evolving nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh for the reason that it would valuable for policy makers and bank administration.
