Item African Art with Open Composition(UMT, Lahore, 2025) Beenish FaryadThe subject I have chosen for my thesis is African Art with Open Composition The Africans, along with their culture, customs, and values, are the focus of my thesis paper. In traditional African culture, masks play a significant part in rites and celebrations and have done so for millennia. Concepts and shapes are equivalent. African masks are works of art in and of themselves, but they also represent something far more significant to the cultures who made them. The shape has always been an important source of motivation for me since it serves as a mechanism to commence metamorphosis, enabling the wearer to take on a new personality and exert power over the gods to who he is addressing or paying gratitude. The African art is a dramatic art form present in the whole continent sometimes raising strong emotions in some Westerners. I tried to show the world the hidden meaning or connection behind the tribal masks through textile patterns and techniques. My textile masks are designed to amuse more than evoke fear. This work will help to see the power of African art in ancient civilizations and try to connect people closer to the lost history with my innovations in the designs
