Item Perceptions of students about socialization in online learning during COVID-19 at university level(UMT Lahore, 2023) Arooj AmjadThe system of education has completely changed and the learning modes are shifted, even there is a significant change in the socialization and behaviors of students. There are several researches on the perceptions regarding academic performance and cognitive skills of students. The past researches showed a transition in socialization of students in a traditional classroom setting. It seems a need to do some more research on the socialization of students in online learning during COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of students regarding socialization in online learning during COVID-19 pandemic at university level. The study is all about to explore, investigate and identify the perceptions of students regarding socialization with faculty, socialization with peers and the barriers that students faced in socialization in online learning during COVID-19 pandemic. The research design was quantitative and university students of Lahore were taken as population. The sample size of 350 students was taken for completion of research and the sampling technique used was convenient sampling (non-probability) technique. A survey was done and data was collected personally from the students of three public and two private universities based in Lahore. Questionnaire was used which was related to use of communication tools for socialization, socialization with faculty, socialization with peers and barriers in socialization in online learning during COVID-19. Questionnaire was self-made consulting through different literatures. The first part of questionnaire was about the usage of communication tools that students mostly use in online learning for socialization and it had 10 items. Next part consisted of 16 items regarding socialization with faculty in online learning during COVID-19. 18 items were included in third section regarding socialization with peers. The last section consisted of 18 items and was related to barriers in socialization in online learning during COVID-19 pandemic. Four-point Likert scale was used for questionnaire for second and third section. Checklist was used for the last section. Pilot testing was done before completing the research; the Cronbach Alpha value obtained was 0.833. Descriptive statistics, the t-test, and ANOVA were among the proposed tests. Results and recommendations were established on the basis of analysis.
