Item an assessment study of market-vibrancy(UMT Lahore, 2019) Muhammad Talha; Zubair HussainHistorically urban spaces have validated their importance as the identity of our cities but in this age of transition, our urban spaces are constantly being degraded due to different factors like haphazard development and fraternization of historic and modern development. One victim of the decreasing quality of our urban spaces is urban markets. In this study, the purpose is to assess vibrancy of different markets of Lahore i.e. G1 Market M.A.J.T, Main Market Gulberg and Kareem Market A.I.T and to compare these three markets to find which market is more vibrant. In this study, the factors which contribute to vibrancy and methods to assess vibrancy are identified from the literature. Data is collected from field by field surveys. For analysis, weighted average index is being calculated for each factor and data is standardized on a scale of 0 to 1. Vibrancy of each market is compared using weighted average index and results are generated on the basis of these analysis. Results from this study have shown that all three markets have good vibrancy score. Comparatively Main Market Gulberg is more vibrant than G1 Market M.A.J.T and Kareem Market A.I.T. Both G1 Market M.A.J.T and Kareem Market A.I.T are equally vibrant. But there is still room for enhancement of vibrancy in these three markets. Main Market Gulberg is comparatively more vibrant than G1 Market M.A.J.T and Kareem Market A.I.T.
