Item Role of Parenting, Life Stressors and Self-Harm Behaviors in Eating Problems in Young Adults(UMT, Lahore, 2024) Mahreen NaeemThe current study aimed to explore the influences of parenting, life stressors, and self harm behaviors on eating in young adults. For this purpose, the predictive role of parenting, life stressors, and self-harm with eating problems were identified. The present research was completed by carrying out five studies. Studies 1, 2, and 3 comprised the development of the Eating Problems Scale, Self-Harm Behaviors Scale, and Life Stressors Scale. Factor analysis yielded five factors of Eating Problems, namely Proneness to Obesity, Anxious-Avoidant Eating, Preoccupied with Body Image, Bulimic Tendencies, and Disorganized eating, two factors of Self-Harm Behaviors, External Self-Harm and Internal Self-Harm and three factors of Life Stressors, namely Psychosocial Stressors, Environmental Stressors and Personal Stressors. Study 4 was concerned with the testing of study hypotheses by recruiting 1189(Men = 49% and women = 51%) having ages between 15-25 years (M = 19.68, SD = 1.91) by using a multistage sampling technique. Participants completed the Demographic sheet, Eating Problems Scale (EPS), Self-Harm Behaviors Scale (SHBS), Life Stressors Scale (LSS), and Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran - Adult Form (EMBU-A).
