It is a qualitative study. The main question of the study is "What kind of school-based in-service training is going on in various school categories in Lahore"? The general purpose of the study was to provide useful information that can give insight to the teachers' trainers and curriculum designers of teacher education. Four schools are selected for the purpose of this study: School working in public sector School serving poor class (private) School working for middle class (private) School working in posh areas (elite class) The findings of the study are very interesting. It has indicated different existing pattern in the different categories of schools. The study indicated certain similarities and certain differences in the sample schools. All categories of school administration believe in "continuous teachers' training." For this reason the head teachers prefer those teachers who have received pre-service training. The sample schools also indicate that training should be continuous and meeting with the changing demands. Government School, in lower middle class, indicated that the concept of "School-Based Training" was not implemented there. The investigation relating to middle and elite class schools shows that range of school-based training is wider there. In the poor class, also, a very narrow base of SBT is available. Faculty of Educational Management and Technology (FEMT), Institute of Leadership and Management, Ali Institute of Education (AIE) and Beacon House School System have been already arranging workshops in their In service Training Programs for head teachers so that they may implement school based training in their respective schools.
