For this study, semi-structured questionnaires were utilized to collect data in the form of in-depth interviews that revealed informal practices to assess the rental values of residential properties in Lahore. Key factors that influence the rental values are identified by the current market and challenges faced by stakeholders. Furthermore, a mixed-method approach was utilized for rental valuation practices in Lahore's residential market for the purpose of examining the perceptions and experiences of stakeholders who are channeling these informal practices of rental valuation of residential properties. The data was gathered using mixed methods of surveys and interviews from the tenants, property managers, real estate agents, stakeholders, investors and regulatory bodies. Based on gathered data, findings revealed that there is no formal and standardized rental valuation mechanism existing in Lahore for rental values of residential properties. As a result, stakeholders rely on informal practices to assess the rental values. Moreover, this study analyzes key factors that affect rental values including location and size of rental space, area and condition of property, and proximity to amenities. In the end produces recommendations for developing a formal and standardized rental valuation mechanism that considers the affordability and priority of tenants for the insurance of fair and affordable rent determination systems.enAssessing rental valuation practices of residential properties in lahoreThesis
