In the present work we focus on the Synthesis of MgO nano particles. Magnesium nitrate hexahydrate Mg (NO3).6H2O, sodium hydroxide and distilled water were used for preparation magnesium oxide (MgO) via a precipitation method, where magnesium nitrate is used as a precursor, distilled water as a solvent and NaOH is used to maintain pH of the sample. The MgO was characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The optical properties have been recorded in the UV-Vis wavelength range from 200 nm to 800 nm.
